Why must I defend my disbelief?

Religion seems to be the only form of belief for which there is a taboo preventing those who disagree, from questioning it.

For every other type of belief, society tends to expect the person making the claim to provide a solid rationale and evidence in support of their claim. Where religions are concerned, there seems to be more of a challenge set towards those who choose not to believe.

Whats the matter with people?
